Fibromyalgia and Back Surgery

Individuals that have undergone a spine fusion surgery or multiple spine fusion surgeries may experience more Chronic Pain after their spine fusion surgery(ies) has healed.  This condition is called Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS).

Those that suffer from FBSS have a predisposition to developing Fibromyalgia.  It is reported that 25% of FBSS patients are diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  This compares to a Fibromyalgia rate of 1.75% in the general population.
